Dr. Wayne Martinsen, MD, MSW
Dr. Martinsen is a board-certified psychiatrist working with Dakota Family Services. He provides professional services to youth in the residential programs at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch and maintains an outpatient practice encompassing a wide age range. Originally from rural North Dakota, Dr. Martinsen received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota and completed residency at the University of North Dakota. He also has a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska, Omaha.
Dr. Meryl Willert, Ph.D.
Dr. Willert is a clinical child/adolescent psychologist who completed his doctoral training at the University of North Dakota and Spokane Mental Health in Washington. He has extensive experience in hospital and residential treatment settings and specializes in psychological testing and treatment of ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety, autistic spectrum disorders and personality issues. Dr. Willert emphasizes a cognitive/behavioral approach to therapy as well as play, art and music/percussion techniques, when indicated.
Tammy Uleberg, FNP
Tammy Uleberg is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, who was born and raised in the Minot area. She received a Registered Nurse degree from the University of Mary, Bismarck, N.D., and a Family Nurse Pracitioner Certification (FNP - C) from Clarkson College, Omaha, Neb. In 2009, Tammy received a psychiatric and mental health Master’s Degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. Prior to working at DFS, she worked inpatient psychiatry for more than 12 years.
Christy Wilkie, LICSW
Christy Wilkie provides provide outpatient therapy for children and adolescents ages 5-20. She has extensive training and experience in providing several types of therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS), Play Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Wilkie combines her extensive clinical expertise with a belief in kids—even the toughest kids—with unique ability to find and develop their strengths. Wilkie says, “I love working with kids because they have so much potential and so much skill, and they don’t know how to funnel it. I am persistent. I don’t give up on kids or their families.”
Wilkie earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and her master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis, IN.
Christina Hemmer, LPCC, ND Certified Clinical Supervisor
As the Clinic Director, Christina ensures that Dakota Family Services provides best-in-class care to clients. Additionally, Christina provides clinical supervision for counselors and outpatient therapy. She has extensive experience working with adolescents and families; specializing in the care for trauma, autism, behavioral issues, suicide, self-harm, and personality issues. Christina utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach, augmented with sensory based interventions (movement, mindfulness, play, video games, and virtual reality). As a clinical supervisor, Christina provides approved supervision hours for North Dakota counselors working towards their LPC/LPCC advancement.
