Dakota Family Services is a team of compassionate, practiced experts providing outpatient behavioral health care for children, adolescents, and adults in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary clinic. Comprehensive psychological and psychiatric services include assessment, evaluation, individual therapy, medication management, and psychological testing.
Our clinics and providers are located in Fargo and Minot, ND.
Several Dakota Family Services providers specialize in child and adolescent issues, assisting children, adolescents, and their families as they navigate critical developmental stages. At Dakota Family Services, we help youth discover their interests and talents, learn to safely experiment and take risks, practice decision-making skills, and develop healthy peer and adult relationships.
Last year, our professionals provided mental health counseling and interventions to children and adolescents in 40 of North Dakota's 53 counties, working with 34 schools and three of the five Tribal Nations in North Dakota to provide for the mental health and well-being of the children in their communities.
Dakota Family Services helps train the next generation of mental health professionals by providing practicum and internship locations for several educational programs, including the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences; the Master of Counseling Program at Minnesota State University, Moorhead; and the North Dakota State University Nursing Program. We are committed to increasing access to mental health services throughout North Dakota by providing behavioral health care experiences to college students.
Our Medical Director and Psychiatrist, Wayne Martinsen, MSW, MD, oversees medical students and residents at our Minot, ND, clinic. He is also a Clinical Clerkship Director for the UND Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Science.
According to an ongoing customer satisfaction survey and outcomes data, Dakota Family Services providers exceed patient expectations.
