Frequently Asked Questions

How much does therapy cost?

- It depends on the type of service you need and what your insurance will cover. We are in-network providers with several insurers, but all coverage depends on your specific insurance plan. Call for more information.

How do I know if I need to see a counselor?

- A counselor can help you feel better. If you are feeling down, overwhelmed, irritable, angry, or sad, you may benefit from seeing a counselor.

Can I make a counseling appointment for someone else?

- It depends. You can make an appointment for your child. But, when it’s an adult friend or family member, they have to make the call. You can get information, but can’t make an appointment for another adult. We encourage you to find the phone number and support them as they make the call.

How do I support a friend who struggles with mental illness?

- The most important thing you can do as a friend is to listen. Then, encourage them to get professional help when they are struggling.

Testimonials

We started coming here because my youngest son was having some troubles in school. We’ve been coming to Dakota Family Services about a year and he is thriving. He’s just a different kid.

Melanie P.

Dakota Family Services helped me to open up and actually talk about what I was going through and what I was dealing with. It was intimidating at first, but I immediately became relaxed and comfortable because of how approachable my therapist is.

Thomas G.

My therapist is like the big sister I never had that gives you tough love, but still understands. She challenges me and helps me look at situations in different ways. For a long time I didn’t want to work on things. I wanted to ignore it. But she pushes me to figure it out and to talk about it.

JeTara J.

You provide genuine concern and commitment to working with families and patients to give the best possible care.

Patient, Dakota Family Services

Excellent care has been provided for me. I can't think of anything that needs improvement.
