Paying for Mental Health Care

A part of our commitment to being your provider of choice, Dakota Family Services accepts many major health insurance plans, including commercial and public insurance. We work directly with your insurance company to process claims and clarify coverage issues.

How do I know what my insurance will cover?

For benefit information, please contact the customer service number on the back of your insurance card. Ask them if they cover the therapy, psychiatric, or psychological testing services you are seeking. Be sure to ask them about deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays.

Gather Insurance Information

If you have insurance, gather information like the name of your insurance company, your insurance numbers, and your plan type. If you don’t have insurance, ask about our private pay policies.


Step 3

Book Your First Appointment

You can book your first appointment while you are on the phone. We will match you with a therapist based on your preferences and specific concerns. We will then answer any questions you have about your upcoming session.

Call Our Office

Give us a call. Once we have your insurance information, we will contact the insurance company and call you back to confirm coverages.


Step 4

Start Your Treatment Plan

Your appointments will take place online or in one of our two office locations: Fargo and Minot, ND. After your first appointment, you and your therapist or doctor will determine the best plan for continued care.

Online Mental Health Care Appointments

If it is difficult for you to make it to one of our clinics, virtual mental health care may be a great option for you. This way, you don’t have to factor in travel time and you can work with your therapist or doctor from the comfort of your home. Do you accept my health insurance?

The quickest way to find out if we accept your insurance is to call our office. Please gather your insurance information and call us. We will quickly check your benefits, discuss payment options, and schedule your appointment.

What if I don’t have insurance?

We do accept private pay, but do not offer services on a sliding fee scale. 

Do you offer online therapy/virtual appointments?

Online appointments are available through a private video conference. This way, you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to get the treatment you need. 

What happens if I don’t like my therapist?

We are confident you will love your therapist. We choose our staff extremely carefully. However, if you feel you want to try someone else out, no hard feelings.
