Definition

Family therapy helps families resolve relationship conflicts and build strong relationships. The goal of family therapy is to increase your ability to interact more effectively with other family members and learn new skills that help you live productively together.

Improved communication can allow family members to work through conflict and tension in healthier ways as opposed to suppressing or avoiding thoughts and feelings.

Family therapy is not solely focused on one individual within the home. It is focused on the family as a whole working towards family goals and members working on individual goals that contribute to the family goal.
