Psychologists at Dakota Family Services administer tests and assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. If you or your child are having problems at work or school, or in personal relationships, your provider can use psychological testing to identify areas of concern that may be contributing to the problem—for instance, issues managing anger, lack of social skills, or certain personality traits. Other tests evaluate whether you are experiencing emotional disorders such as anxiety or depression.
The testing is not one-size-fits-all. Our Dakota Family Services providers pick and choose a specific set of assessments and tests based on your specific situation and needs.
You have no need to fear psychological testing and assessment as there are no right or wrong answers. A psychologist or psychometrist (a trained professional who administers and scores psychological tests) will walk you through the tests—on computer, paper and pencil, and/or through an interview. The testing will be completed in a private space; and the time it takes to complete depends on the type and number of tests ordered by your provider.
Psychological tests and assessments give your provider a full picture of your strengths and limitations, enabling them to create, with your involvement, an individualized treatment plan that meets your goals.
