Definition

Conduct disorder is a pattern of behavior in children and adolescents that involves destruction of property, theft, lying, or fighting—conduct that is seriously disruptive at home and that often leads to problems with authorities. Although conduct disorder can lead to criminality as an adult, these behaviors are not inevitable and often respond well to appropriate treatment.

Conduct disorder is also referred to as:

  • Antisocial behaviors
  • Disruptive behavior disorder
